Back to the office communications

08 June 2020

Many of us are starting to think about a return to office working as lockdown eases.

The Government has published Working Safely During Coronavirus (Covid-19) but it still leaves many questions unanswered.

Do I have to wear a face mask? Do I have to return to the office if I don’t want to? How can I use the loo safely? Will there be staggered starts?

Managers need a clear internal communications strategy to help them guide their teams back to safe office working.

There are three must-haves that internal communication managers can put in place within the next month:

  • Back to the office internal communications plan – A simple communications plan to address employees’ key concerns to answer the most important questions in their minds right now: what’s happening, why should I care and how does it impact me?
  • Back to the office training video – Practical tips to take the worry out of office working and answer the most common questions about a safe return.
  • Internal communication and employee engagement toolkit for managers – Zoom quizzes and cupcakes are a great way to lift employees’ spirits as a one-off.  An internal communication plan specifically aimed at managers can increase employee engagement and wellbeing over the long term.
