What makes apprentices, school leavers and graduates move into the world of construction? Before we could go into schools and onto campuses, we had to find out. But rather than conducting a major research programme, we focused on a series of storytelling workshops to gain real insights into what makes construction and Laing O’Rourke something to aspire to. We found some amazing stories – from girls inspired by Lego to poor careers advice, amazing teachers and lecturers, and

We have used these stories and more to engage early talent and show them what’s possible with Laing O’Rourke.  We’ve created brochures, web content and collateral for events, fairs, and campus and school visits, as well as a social media campaign entitled #constructionstories.  Over the last few years, we have helped to recruit hundreds of people, through a range of different strategies, from going onto campus with an ice cream cab in the middle of winter to driving social mobility in apprenticeship recruitment.
